Prayer Shawl / Hat & Mitten Ministry
ATTENTION KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS!
A prayer shawl can be a tangible symbol of being wrapped in God’s love. It is a wrap that is knit or crocheted by members of this congregation. The shawls are then given out by the pastors (or by a lay person) to individuals as a gift of encouragement and support. So, what makes a prayer shawl a prayer shawl? It is the prayers (general or in some cases for the intended recipient) that are prayed as the shawl is being made, and also the way that the shawl represents, to the person who receives it, being supported by the prayers of the congregation.
Simple patterns are available for both knit and crochet at the display in the narthex. You may also use any pattern you would like. For more information, contact Sue Gass or Cathy Blair.
If you are unable to make it to church and would still like to participate in this ministry, please call the church office (836-8291) and arrangements can be made to deliver the yarn or pick up the completed prayer shawls.
Hat & Mitten Tree
In the fellowship hall, you'll notice a "tree" adorned with hats, mittens and scarves. These items have been lovingly knit or crocheted by members of Christ Lutheran and are available for anyone to take and use. Please enjoy one yourself or give to someone else who may need something for warmth. The knitters and crocheters will continue to add items so be generous in sharing these lovely items!
